The House in Elmhurst is a literary fiction novel about secrets, family loyalty and the uncomfortable truth that love and pain can coexist together. Becky Barnes grew up in an ordinary American family. At least, that’s what she thought. As a child, she couldn’t understand why certain things happened. As an adult, she has spent years trying to outrun the consequences. But some families have a way of haunting you. And The House in Elmhurst has not yet given up all its secrets.
About the Author
Ruth Delacourt was raised in the United States before coming to Britain as a postgraduate student. She now lives in South West England with her family.
Her writing is shaped by a life lived between countries and cultures, long-distance family relationships and raising children in a multinational household. These experiences underpin The House in Elmhurst, her debut novel.
Ruth is now writing her second novel and writes about books, writing, publishing and family relationships.
